Randy and Rhonda Shotts

Randy and Rhonda Shotts are nationally recognized and respected instructors and competitors in the Country Western and Swing dance arena. They travel the UCWDC (United Country Western Dance Council) circuit teaching, judging, competing and giving inspiration to scores of competing and social dancers.

Randy and Rhonda began competing in the fall of 1988 and have together won eight Division I Grand Championships. They are retired Masters Division Competitors. Currently, Randy teaches dance classes and private lessons four nights a week in the Portland area and they both travel on weekends to various workshops and events throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe.

They are also very involved in the UCWDC (United Country Western Dance Council) as the Directors of the Portland Dance Festival, Co-Directors of the North Pacific Dance Classic in Vancouver, British Columbia and as the Northwest Regional Representatives.

Off the Dance Floor...

Prior to moving to the Northwest, Randy was a Procurement Manager at Hughes Aircraft Company in El Segundo, California. He holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from North Texas State University and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Long Beach State University. He began teaching Country Western and Swing dancing in 1991 and, since the spring of 1993, as been teaching dance full time.

Rhonda is a former Administrative Secretary and holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Home Economics. She is a member the UCWDC Board of Directors and is active on the UCWDC Rules Committee. Currently she is working full time as a Chiropractic Assistant in downtown Portland.

They have two children, Matthew 17 and Emily 10. Matthew lives in Los Angeles most of the time and spends his summer in Portland. He’ll be a senior in the fall and attends The California Academy of Math and Science on the campus of Cal State University Dominguez Hills. His ambition in life is to design computer games or go into the field of astronomy.

Emily will be in middle school in the fall (sixth grade). She loves to dance and does Pro-Am competition with her dad. She has also been developing her singing skills and is a member of the Oregon Repertory Singers Youth Choir. This year they enjoyed a trip to Eugene and Salem where they sang for our governor.
